Our story

One clam at a time, on the Georgia coast.

Starting as a passion project in 2017, Shellbluff Clams was founded on the pristine waters of the Mud River surrounding Sapelo Island. Our vision is to reinvigorate Georgia’s seafood industry one clam at a time.

Mud River provides an ideal environment for farming healthy clams that have a fresh taste unique to the thriving estuary surrounding Sapelo Island. Grown entirely from food naturally available in these waters, our clams are the perfect balance of salt and succulence.

Good for the water they grow in.

As suspension feeders, shellfish capture food with their gills, removing algae and sediment from our waters in the process. Using best management practices, clam and oyster aquaculture can contribute to a cleaner, healthier coast.
